Right up until I got my first job in video editing, I was self taught through trial and error (practicing with a lot of coffee after midnight because I was a full-time mum) and YouTube tutorials.
I made it my mission to learn one new skill in editing each week so would look out for things I didn’t know while watching others, then look up how to try it myself.
YouTube is a huge place though so it can be hard to know which channels to trust for tutorials and not waste your time. Here’s 5 I love and return to time and again still
Peter is a really lovable guy, with a huge amount of energy. Not only does he make really useful tutorials, but his general cinematography makes me do a happy dance
This couple are the absolute cutest. Really understand and relaxed, and really know there suff where shooting and photography are concerned.
Justin also has lots of After Effects tutorials, which go hand in hand with Premiere Pro
If you don’t mind the slightly shouty/over the top teaching style, he has some really fun and useful tutorials
